Yesterday, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the increase in the minimum wage, which will be 12% to take effect as of January 1, 2025, after an agreement with the labor and business sector.
This information was confirmed by the Secretary of Labor, Marath Baruch Bolaños, since he reported that on December 3rd, the 12% increase in the minimum wage was approved, to which, with this increase, the salary in most parts of the country will go from $248.93 pesos to $278.80 pesos; while for the free zone of the Northern Border it will go from $374.89 pesos to $419.88 pesos.
In the same way, Francisco Alberto Cervantes Díaz, president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), mentioned that, with this increase, the business sector was adding “in solidarity and with conviction to this strategy with deep human meaning”, for which he thanked the country's businessmen for their will and solidarity.
It is very important to remember that the minimum wage is the minimum monetary amount that a worker must receive for the services he provides during his working day to the employer and its main objective is that this amount can meet the normal needs of a head of household in the material, social and cultural order, and to provide basic education to his children.
